RETRO SOUL,
rock n’ roll vibes

The Slow Sippers are a Vancouver-based six-piece neo soul band with each member bringing their own flavour and experience to make magic happen every time they play.

Covering soulful deep cuts while adding their own funk and flair, the Sippers’ rich sound and three lead vocalists will have you moving and grooving.

Kelsey has been somewhat of a shark around Vancouver ‘s karaoke scene. We invited her to one of our rehearsals so that she could to give a handful of songs a whirl with a real live band and she blew the roof off. A couple of verses into the first song and the nods of approval around the room were abundantly clear; we asked Kelsey if she’d like to join The Slow Sippers. When not on the mic as lead, Kelsey adds to our dynamics by singing harmonies and sharing backup vocals.

Jeff's voice has evolved over the years like a fine wine, and it resonates with soul. When Jeff sings, it's impossible to not listen intently. His talents shine on the guitar as well, tying everything together with his steadfast rhythm. Jeff and Dave grew up in Winnipeg together, playing alongside each other in some of their first bands (Poetic Justice, Three Blind Mice). Jeff has played with numerous artists over the years, living in Winnipeg, Toronto and Vancouver.

Rachel brings it with every song and leaves it all on the stage. When she sings, the band and the audience smile; everyone knows it's showtime. Rachel has sung with several Vancouver bands including Ripple Illusion, Rebel Republic, MudFunk, CoachStrobCam, CLONE, Veda Hille choirs, Caroline Allatt, China Syndrome, Dawn Pemberton, Jared Fraser Band and the Railtown Soundsystem - just to name a few.

Will adds tasty nuances and brings a bit of edge when the song calls for it. His guitar solos sing (sometimes scream), throwing flames and turning heads. This man loves being on stage. He struts and and shimmies, adding more patina to his strat and tele with every performance and taking the audience on a ride. Will grew up in North Bay and moved to Taiwan, where he played in funk/blues bands for 8 years before moving to Vancouver. Once settled into Vancouver, Will joined MudFunk where he played alongside Rachel.

Dave holds it down. He's obsessed with tone, always trying to emulate the great bass tones of the ‘60’s and ‘70’s.  Dave played in the Winnipeg-based bands Three Blind Mice, Flatland Sunshine and Zen Bungalow before laying down his bass for almost a decade. When he moved to Vancouver in '05 he picked it up again and reconnected with his old pal Jeff. A few years later, Dave began playing in Ripple Illusion where he met Rachel and The Slow Sippers concept began to take life.

The stars aligned when Cam fell into our world (straight from the heavens via a craigslist ad). Finding a great drummer is no easy task; especially one with similar musical inspirations - and did we ever hit the jackpot. Cam brings the funk to the backbone of The Slow Sippers. Oh, and he loves to jump on the mic - whether it's adding some harmony or taking the lead. Everyone's extra entertained when the drummer can sing! Cam's professional music career is vast, to say the least. Some notables he's played with are Weeping Tile, By Divine Right, Oh Susanna (Suzie Ungerleider) and Holly McNarland.
